Occupying a space of 5mx2m, the new store sees Sim Local providing a choice of local SIM cards from eety, Drei and Lyca to international travellers looking to stay seamlessly connected while abroad, without incurring additional roaming charges. The store also sells a range of branded accessories and fully trained staff will be on hand to help customers select the right offer and products to suit their needs.
Ian Rankin, Chief Commercial Officer, Sim Local said “Winning another competitive tender, and opening our 12th stand-alone store, is a huge achievement for our business and sees us expanding into an important new territory. Our retail footprint is continually growing, and we are delighted to be working with Vienna Airport to bring our market leading local SIM card proposition to their customers. We’re also pleased to be extending our global partnership with Lyca and cementing our Hutchison relationship by carrying their products in this new location.”
Philipp Ahrens, Senior Vice President Center Management at Vienna Airport added “We are delighted that Sim Local has joined our roster of world-renowned retailers. We believe that extending our retail offering to include their local SIM cards will be valued by the international travellers arriving in Vienna.”
Sim Local’s Vienna opening joins its roll call of stand-alone stores that include multiple locations in London Heathrow, two stores in Athens International airport and a store in the baggage hall at Brussels airport. Sim Local also operates a network of vending machines across European airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Brussels, Dublin and Copenhagen and works with affiliate partners such as WHSmith and InMotion in airports globally.
